Leakage Surveying

Active Leak Detection Survey work is a pro-active leakage reduction procedure to identify water loss in a particular District Metered Area (DMA), town or reservoir supply zone. Prior to conducting a Active Leakage Survey we complete site and desktop assessments to determine the best suited methodology and offer recommendations to our Client on what process will produce the best results.

Aqua Environmental completes all its leakage survey work in two-man crews; with one on each side of the water main to ensure all house service pipes, water meters, hydrants and valves are soundned for leakage. Our internal testing shows this high resolution survey approach finds the more leaks than any other tested method (eg: one-man crews, leak noise loggers and correlating loggers).

During the initial leakage survey all field technicians are listening for water leak sounds (a “hiss” and “woosh”). These sounds are propagated along the pipe walls and are distinctly heard by our Leakage Technicians.

Following the initial leakage survey any potential leakage locations are promptly followed up and confirmations done by leak correlation and use of ground microphones. We utilise wireless site communications to report our leaks to clients within minutes of each leak being located. Each leaks is uploaded to a secure website for each Client to access at their convenience .

Urgent leaks that may impact in the  public perception of our Client or endanger the public are reported immediately for repair within one hour.
